The only issue in the 1896 Presidential race was MORE SILVER MONEY.

The solution for the economic demise that saddles America and in fact the entire world is to provide debt free money.

Just like Lincoln’s “Green backs”, Britons “Talley Sticks” or Roman bronze coinage, provide just enough money (without interest) to facilitate commerce for the benefit of the populace.

At the Federal Level, Congress should control and issue the debt free money-Not the Federal Reserve which is a privately owned bank. Just enough money will be injected into the system through normal budget process. Existing money will be replace one for one with the new debt free money, and start paying off the national debt.

To prevent inflation, Reserve requirements are gradually raised at the commercial banks eventually requiring them to have 100% reserves.

The commercial banks can then only lend the amount they have in reserve and must compete in the open market for additional money, thus making banks competitive once again.

On the State level, a state bank is charted, much like the very successful 90yr old Bank of North Dakota. The state deposits it funds into the new bank and uses fractional reserve lending to their advantage, making loans for roads, bridges etc. at NO INTEREST.

When loans are repaid the money is removed from the system this way you create wealth without creating a permanent increase in the money supply and the consequent inflation.

California tax officials say a state proposal to tax and regulate marijuana like alcohol would generate nearly $1.4 billion in revenue. Marijuana retail sales would bring $990 million from a $50-per-ounce fee and $392 million in sales taxes.

First understand MS Publisher 2003 does not support using Avery card templates, but the MS 2007 version does. So either upgrade or do the following: Design your business card as you normally would then enlarge the view. With Vista use the snippet tool and save your card as a jpg. Now send it to your paint program and erase the dotted lines showing the movable boxes. Save it in a file as a jpg.
Go online and Download the Avery Wizard for Microsoft Office. Install the program then open MS Word and click on the little Avery symbol at the top right, choose the template you want yada, yada, yada, then click on the insert clip art feature and choose the the jpg file you saved. PRINT!

After twenty plus years of using epoxy to waterproof foundation cracks in Columbia Mo., I have found that epoxy is wonderful for protecting concrete including garage floors, patios, sidewalks etc. It really should not have come as a surprise to me as I know the qualities of epoxy. There are several brands to choose from: Rust Oleum, Valspar, Krylon, Behr, Quikrete...I won't make a recommendation as to which brand is best, but will strongly recommend preparing the surface properly. (in other words, follow the directions). Some of the advantages of using epoxy coatings is it will improve the appearance by giving the floor a uniform color and completely hiding small cracks. It makes future cleaning easier. It also helps to act as a vapor barrier if condensation is a problem. It adds value to your home.

I am not the first person who changed their config settings to speed up Firefox, but I did do it and WOW did it work. He is what you do:

First type "about:config" in the address bar, hit return. Look for the following entries: network.http.pipelining network.http.proxy.pipelining network.http.pipelining.maxrequests (Normally the browser makes one request to a web page at a time. Enabling pipelining it will make several at once, which speeds up page loading.)

Do the following:

Set "network.http.pipelining" to "true" Set "network.http.proxy.pipelining" to "true" Set "network.http.pipelining.maxrequests" to 30. (This means it will make 30 requests at once)

Lastly right-click anywhere and select New-> Integer. Name it "nglayout.initialpaint.delay" and set its value to "0". This value is the amount of time the browser waits before it acts on information it receives.

Recently in Columbia Missouri it was found that the drinking water had high levels of trihalomethanes in its drinking water. Trihalomethanes are compounds that form when chlorine, which is added to drinking water to kill potentially harmful bacteria, interacts with organic matter in the water.

Trihalomethanes have been linked with increased risk of cancer. But is there any link to Autism? I only ask this because I live in Columbia and my son is autistic, and it seems lately that thimerasal in vacines is not linked(however I disagree). So I would like to know of any research in this area and any findings. I did come accross the BRICK TOWNSHIP AUTISM INVESTIGATION in New Jesery. Hopefully there is nothing to this and the water supply is fixed and we all go on with our our lives. But if there is a connection, well then....

Man I am fed up with government telling me what to do. Now they are banning incandescent light bulbs for Compact fluorescent bulbs. Why can't they just let the free market work? (that's a rhetorical question, we all know politicians just want to keep their power.)

The phase-out of incandescent light is to begin with the 100-watt bulb in 2012 and end in 2014 with the 40-watt bulb. So will their be a huge run on incandescent light bulbs in 2011? You bet there will.

Not everyone thinks that the Compact fluorescent bulbs are such a bright idea, Yea they may save some electricity costs over the long haul, but what about the environment? CFLs contain toxic mercury. Disposal and breakage presents numerous health and environmental concerns. Compact fluorescent bulbs don't last as long as advocates claim and broken bulbs, at home or in landfills can create huge environmental problems.

So tell me, where is the study that shows the ramifications and costs associated with CFLs? (trick question) There is none because they have not been used and tested long enough and that's my point. It's just like Government telling us that Fannie Mae and Freddy Mac are doing fine, or the FDA, EPA, or the Securities and exchange commission, yep their doing a wonderful job, HA!

They can give coach Pinkel 2.3 million dollars a year to coach (which he earned) but they can't hire a fashion designer with testosterone to come up with a meaner looking jersey. The unemployment rate is soaring, and California, Michigan, Missouri, New York, Ohio, South Carolina, Wisconsin, Indiana, Kentucky and Arkansas have less than six months' worth of unemployment trust fund reserves. So what happens when hard working people need the unemployment benefits and their states resources are all dried up like bug juice on a windshield in July. Will our precious (stick their nose into everything) government bail out every state in trouble, causing the fiscal crisis to worsen? Will individuals be able to sue the states? I don't have the answers but I can tell you that the more government gets involved, the worse things will get and for a much longer period. They should let the the free market work. I might suggest writing your congressman and asking for a job. Heck maybe if enough people show up on a congressman's doorstep asking for a bowl of soup then maybe they will put their Country first instead of themselves.

The Real Story of Thanksgiving

On August 1, 1620, the Mayflower set sail. It carried a total of 102 passengers, including forty Pilgrims led by William Bradford. On the journey, Bradford set up an agreement, a contract, that established just and equal laws for all members of the new community, irrespective of their religious beliefs.

Where did the revolutionary ideas expressed in the Mayflower Compact come from? From the Bible. The Pilgrims were a people completely steeped in the lessons of the Old and New Testaments. They looked to the ancient Israelites for their example. And, because of the biblical precedents set forth in Scripture, they never doubted that their experiment would work.

"But this was no pleasure cruise, friends. The journey to the New World was a long and arduous one. And when the Pilgrims landed in New England in November, they found, according to Bradford's detailed journal, a cold, barren, desolate wilderness," destined to become the home of the Kennedy family. "There were no friends to greet them, he wrote. There were no houses to shelter them. There were no inns where they could refresh themselves. And the sacrifice they had made for freedom was just beginning.

During the first winter, half the Pilgrims – including Bradford's own wife – died of either starvation, sickness or exposure.

"When spring finally came, Indians taught the settlers how to plant corn, fish for cod and skin beavers for coats." Yes, it was Indians that taught the white man how to skin beasts. "Life improved for the Pilgrims, but they did not yet prosper! This is important to understand because this is where modern American history lessons often end. "Thanksgiving is actually explained in some textbooks as a holiday for which the Pilgrims gave thanks to the Indians for saving their lives, rather than as a devout expression of gratitude grounded in the tradition of both the Old and New Testaments.

Here is the part [of Thanksgiving] that has been omitted: The original contract the Pilgrims had entered into with their merchant-sponsors in London called for everything they produced to go into a common store, and each member of the community was entitled to one common share.

"All of the land they cleared and the houses they built belong to the community as well. They were going to distribute it equally. All of the land they cleared and the houses they built belonged to the community as well. Nobody owned anything. They just had a share in it. It was a commune, folks. It was the forerunner to the communes we saw in the '60s and '70s out in California – and it was complete with organic vegetables, by the way.

Bradford, who had become the new governor of the colony, recognized that this form of collectivism was as costly and destructive to the Pilgrims as that first harsh winter, which had taken so many lives.

He decided to take bold action. Bradford assigned a plot of land to each family to work and manage, thus turning loose the power of the marketplace.

"That's right. Long before Karl Marx was even born, the Pilgrims had discovered and experimented with what could only be described as socialism. And what happened?

It didn't work! Surprise, surprise, huh?

What Bradford and his community found was that the most creative and industrious people had no incentive to work any harder than anyone else, unless they could utilize the power of personal motivation!

But while most of the rest of the world has been experimenting with socialism for well over a hundred years – trying to refine it, perfect it, and re-invent it – the Pilgrims decided early on to scrap it permanently.

What Bradford wrote about this social experiment should be in every schoolchild's history lesson. If it were, we might prevent much needless suffering in the future.

"'The experience that we had in this common course and condition, tried sundry years...that by taking away property, and bringing community into a common wealth, would make them happy and flourishing – as if they were wiser than God,' Bradford wrote. 'For this community [so far as it was] was found to breed much confusion and discontent, and retard much employment that would have been to their benefit and comfort. For young men that were most able and fit for labor and service did repine that they should spend their time and strength to work for other men's wives and children without any recompense...that was thought injustice.'

Why should you work for other people when you can't work for yourself? What's the point?

"Do you hear what he was saying, ladies and gentlemen? The Pilgrims found that people could not be expected to do their best work without incentive. So what did Bradford's community try next? They unharnessed the power of good old free enterprise by invoking the undergirding capitalistic principle of private property.

Every family was assigned its own plot of land to work and permitted to market its own crops and products. And what was the result?

'This had very good success,' wrote Bradford, 'for it made all hands industrious, so as much more corn was planted than otherwise would have been.'

Bradford doesn't sound like much of a... liberal Democrat, "does he? Is it possible that supply-side economics could have existed before the 1980s? Yes.

In no time, the Pilgrims found they had more food than they could eat themselves.... So they set up trading posts and exchanged goods with the Indians. The profits allowed them to pay off their debts to the merchants in London.

And the success and prosperity of the Plymouth settlement attracted more Europeans and began what came to be known as the 'Great Puritan Migration.'"

The "pink firetruck" showed up in Columbia Mo. today. Why pink? To bring awarenesss to breast cancer. They also had a black lab as a mascot. Why black? I don't know I didn't ask but I would have thought a Pink dalmatian or a white lab with pink spots might make more sense. I know cruelty to animals. But the most amazing thing that happened is Judy Baker (candidate for Congress in Missouri’s Ninth Congressional District) shows up for her photo appearance all decked out in pink. I over heard her ask her support staff, "Do you think they will let me sign it?" Gee Judy are you a survivor of breast cancer. Politicians just can't seem to help from politicizing an event.

He has taken a proactive role in dealing with this potential disaster unlike past democrats Ray Nagin and others. Tips for picking the shortest shopping line

With only so many hours in a day I don't want to stand around in a line waiting to check out any longer than necessary. Gleaned from personal experience I have formulated, calculated and contrived the following results. The first thing to do is examine the overall situation, how many checkouts are there? Is one about to be opened. Is their a service counter not being utilized? Of course pick an empty que if available, if not, on to the second phase. Who is in line? The shortest line is not always the fastest. For example a line with 4 single males 30-40 yrs old will move slightly faster than a line that has only two senior citizens and if those senior citizens pull out coin purses or start small talk with the checkout person, watch out. So avoid lines with lots of old folks or very young kids, as they never seem to have enough money and have to go get more from mom.
Another rule of thumb is if the checkout clerk is on the phone doing a price check or calling for the manager AVOID at all costs. You might as well put your items back and come back the next day. Following these simple guidelines will save the average person seven months, 5 days, and 16 hours over their lifetime. But don't take my word for it. Next time get in line behind Grandma using her walker entertaining her four grandkids while the checkout girl gets a price check for a discontinued, unlabled gift basket.

For First person shooters it has been a slow summer, but here is a game worth the money. The big difference between this game and COD4 is you get to blow out walls and this creates a whole different strategy when playing in both multi player and single player. I was a little disappointed with the single player mode, it is kind of corny with the dialog between the four soldiers and every time you need to regenerate health you jab this huge hypodermic needle into your chest (it reminds me of the scene in pulp fiction). The multi player is where it's at. Maps are 24 gamers and lots of tanks, copters, missiles, stationary defenses etc. So if you get tired of prestige mode in COD4 try BBC on for size. If I were to rate COD4 a 9.5 then BBC gets a 8.0

For those of you that have never floated down a river in a canoe, it is a one of a kind experience. The rivers I am talking about are mostly spring fed with lots of gravel bars and some rapids. Some popular rivers are the current, jacks fork, huzzah, black, mammoth spring, meramec, white and others. It's nothing like going down the Colorado in a raft, much more relaxing, and if you camp out over night you will see and here animals you wouldn't expect to, otters, cranes, bats, yada yada yada. Having just got back from one with my fraternity brothers I felt you should try it if you come to Missouri. You do not have to dig up the yard now just to repair a basement wall crack. It can be done from the inside using epoxy. If the basement is unfinished this makes it extremely easy to access the crack. It is not necessary to widen the crack either. There are kits available for homeowners but it is probably advisable to hire a professional unless you are pretty good around the house. You can now spend from $300 to $700 to set up a system to locate your dog using global satellite tracking technology. It is an amazing frontier we have encountered. I can see the usefulness of a product like this for K-9 dogs or rescue hounds, or possible my great grandmother with her bad memory. But honestly if you are going to spend that much money on locater I say you bought the wrong dog. A good whistle always worked for me. But then again I am a cheap son of a gun and about the most I will spend on a quality tracker is 10 bucks. Unless of course it is for Granny.

Earlier this week, Bill Gates announced that Windows 7, code name of Vienna, and before that, "Blackcomb" (named for a ski slope at Whistler, British Columbia), would be available sometime in 2009. However, by the next day, Microsoft announced that Windows 7 would not see the light of day prior to 2010. So which is it. Normally it takes Microsoft 3 years to put out a new operating system but with Vista having earlier problems It's not surprising. The next edition of Windows will technically be the seventh generation of the Windows NT codebase which is now the foundation for the client OS (the clock starts at Windows NT 3.1; this was followed by NT 4, while Windows 2000 was also ‘Windows NT 5' and XP a mere 5.1, until Vista clicked the meter over to Windows version 6). Computer makers have been told they'll no longer be able to get Windows XP OEM by the end of this year, despite consumer resistance to Vista and its compatibility problems. Microsoft's contracts with computer makers will require companies to only sell Vista-loaded machines. As my gandpappy used to say "If you are are going to to do something do it right. Don't do it half assed."

The best vacuum for the money is the tempo wide path bagged upright from hoover. It's not fancy but it does what it is supposed to CLEAN CARPETS! The cheapest I found was at circuit city, but if you do eBay that is just as good. After using this(I should say after my wife used this vacuum) I did not realize how much dirt we left in the carpet.
